Matthew Rajendra is a senior reporter based in Singapore, covering developments across multiple maritime sectors, but his focus is on tanker, dry cargo, bunkers and gas segments in Asia-Pacific. He has been closely tracking developments in India’s maritime sector, bunker markets, issues on the Red Sea and, more recently, the chaos in the Strait of Hormuz.

Matthew joined Lloyd’s List from Argus Media where he worked as a senior reporter covering South Asia and the Middle East polymer markets, before taking on the role of business development manager, Chemicals, Asia and Middle East.

Before graduating with a degree in economics from Singapore Management University, Matthew combined his studies with interning and freelancing as a producer at business news network CNBC.

Mohamad Azuan Masud is a prominent industry practitioner and advocate in Malaysia’s logistics and transportation sector, currently serving as the Secretary General of the Association of Malaysian Hauliers (AMH), the national association representing container haulier operators across Malaysia. With extensive experience working at the intersection of the logistics industry, government agencies, port authorities and industry stakeholders, Azuan plays an active role in advocating for a more efficient, safe, sustainable and competitive Malaysian logistics ecosystem.

In his capacity at AMH, he is actively involved in policy discussions and industry engagements with key stakeholders including the Ministry of Transport (MOT), APAD, JPJ, KPDN, port authorities, terminal operators, customs authorities and other government and industry bodies. His work covers a wide range of critical issues affecting the logistics sector, including transport regulations, road safety, heavy vehicle compliance, diesel subsidy policies, port and depot operations, digitalisation, supply-chain efficiency and the welfare and sustainability of the Malaysian haulier industry. He is particularly recognised for his ability to translate operational challenges faced by frontline industry players into constructive policy discussions, bringing practical industry perspectives to government and institutional decision-makers, and has participated in numerous national-level dialogues, task forces, technical meetings and industry consultations aimed at improving Malaysia’s logistics and transportation framework.

Beyond his association responsibilities, Azuan is passionate about industry transformation, leadership development and knowledge sharing, particularly in preparing the next generation of logistics professionals to understand the realities and challenges of the industry. Through his continued engagement with industry stakeholders and educational institutions, he hopes to contribute not only to solving today’s logistics challenges, but also to developing a more resilient, innovative and future-ready Malaysian logistics industry.

Dr. Shahrin Osman is a seasoned maritime professional with over 35 years of industry experience, including 18 years in consulting and research. Since joining DNV in 2008, he has led cross-disciplinary advisory teams across Asia and the Middle East, delivering strategic projects for governments, port authorities, maritime and offshore companies, primarily involving benchmarking, strategy, decarbonisation, and digitalisation.

Dr. Shahrin is widely recognized for his thought leadership focusing on technology application in maritime and offshore business, and the intersection between innovation, industry, authorities and academia. He also serves on multiple industry and academic boards. In 2024, he was appointed Adjunct Associate Professor at SIT, specialising in Industry Transformation. Dr. Shahrin holds a PhD in ‘Industry Cluster Strategy and Innovation Ecosystem’ and has completed executive programs at IMD and UC Berkeley.

Mr. Vijaya Kumar Puspowanam is a seasoned port and logistics professional with over 25 years of experience in the maritime and supply chain industry. He began his career with Westports in 2000 and progressed through various leadership roles, including Head of Container Marketing and General Manager, Marketing & Conventional. ​

In 2023 he was appointed as Deputy Chief Executive Officer and was appointed Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director effective 1 February 2025. Mr. Vijaya holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration (International Business) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and is an alumnus of Harvard Business School, having completed the Senior Management Development Programme and the General Management Programme. ​

Khairul Amalin Abd Rahman is a transformative leader shaping the sustainability and safety agenda of one of Asia’s key maritime gateways — the Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP). With over 15 years of experience in Health, Safety, Security, Environment (HSSE) and Sustainability Management, he has been central to PTP’s evolution into a future-ready, low-carbon, and resilient port aligned with the global maritime energy transition.

Since joining PTP in 2018 as Head of HSE, Khairul’s leadership has expanded steadily — first to include Security & Crisis Management in 2020, and later Sustainability in 2022. He now spearheads the port’s integrated HSSE and Sustainability transformation, leading comprehensive initiatives to enhance operational safety, environmental performance, crisis preparedness, and corporate sustainability maturity.

Before joining the maritime sector, Khairul built a strong technical and operational foundation at Texas Instruments, progressing through key HSE and environmental roles to Regional HSE Manager, and earlier at MIMOS Semiconductor (M) Sdn Bhd as an Integration Engineer.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Minnesota, USA, an MBA from the University of Technology Malaysia, and completed the “Advance Management” programmes at IMD Business School, Switzerland.

Norhasliza Mat Salleh is the Director of the National Logistics Centre at Malaysia’s Ministry of Transport, and Deputy Secretary of the Ministry’s Maritime Division. With over two decades of experience in national security and maritime governance, she has held key positions within Malaysia’s National Security Council, including Deputy Director of the Maritime Security and Sovereignty Division and Chief Assistant Director of the Law of the Sea Convention Section.

She holds a Master of Science in Maritime Affairs from the World Maritime University, Sweden, a Diploma in Public Management from INTAN, and a Bachelor’s degree in Human Science from the International Islamic University Malaysia.

Ts. Dr. Nor Fyadzillah Mohd Taha is a supply chain and logistics management subject matter expert with 18 years of experience as an academic, instructor and consultant across the United Kingdom and Malaysia. She has published nineteen papers, with a further three currently under review, and works continuously to improve research and teaching practice through industrial hands-on and collaborative approaches.

She holds a PhD in Management (Logistics and Supply Chain) from the University of Hull, where her thesis examined automated technologies and sustainability-based performance in Malaysia’s food processing and manufacturing industry. She also holds an MBA from Meiji University, Tokyo, an MSc in Engineering Business Management with Distinction and a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, both from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, alongside a Postgraduate Diploma in Research Training from the University of Hull.

Dr. Nor Fyadzillah currently serves as Chairperson of WiLAT Malaysia and as a Council Member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport Malaysia. She is a member of the Board of Engineers Malaysia, the Institute of Engineers Malaysia, the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (UK) and the British Academy of Management. Her research and advisory interests span sustainability-based performance and governance, supply chain security, automated technologies, big data analysis, Industry 4.0, blockchain in the supply chain, and Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.

HY Thum is a seasoned leader in Malaysia’s maritime industry serving as the CEO of QEL Group of Companies and LKC Shipping Line Sdn Bhd. With over more than 3 decades of experience under his belt, Thum began his career at Jardine Shipping Services back in the mid-80s.

He has transformed his group’s shipping agency business into an integrated service provider covering liner — non liner principals, end-to-end logistics services & freight solutions, oversized project handling & management, dry bulk cargo, container feeder, specialised navy ship husbanding providers, liquid cargo ships, and isotank – flexi-packaging segments. He has brought few established regional ship operators and expanded their services to cover the most active China – ASEAN – ISC and matching the needs of cargo owners with the active ship operators and partners.

As an active and longtime member of SAM, Thum has contributed to many maritime community activities in Malaysia working hand-in-hand with other like-minded bodies like SFFLA, MASA and other governmental authorities such as Port Klang Authorities/ Customs/ MOT & other OGAs.
